Who Gurri Remodel Is
Gurri Remodel is a New York City general contractor specialising in high-end interior renovation. The company was founded in 1997 by Sami G. Kelmendi and has been building in Manhattan and Brooklyn ever since — kitchens, bathrooms, whole apartments, and the co-op, condominium and pre-war projects that make up most of the residential work in this city.
That is nearly three decades in one market. It matters less as a number than as accumulated knowledge of how New York buildings actually work: which alteration agreements are onerous, what a managing agent needs in order to say yes, how far a pre-war riser can realistically move, and what a building will insist on before it lets a contractor through the door.
What We Build
Our work is residential interior renovation at the higher end of the market:
- Kitchen remodeling — from refits within an existing footprint to reclaiming space from adjacent rooms
- Bathroom remodeling — waterproofing, drainage and finishes built to survive a building leak test
- Full apartment renovations — coordinated as a single project rather than a series of trades
- Co-op renovation and condo renovation — where board approval is as much of the project as the construction
- Pre-war apartment renovation — plaster, mouldings, original floors and the buildings that came with them
How We Work With Buildings
Most New York renovations do not fail on construction. They fail on approval, access and coordination — an incomplete alteration package, an insurance certificate naming the wrong entity, an elevator that was never booked.
We treat that side of the work as part of the job. We read the alteration agreement and house rules before pricing, assemble the contractor-side documentation the building requires, obtain certificates of insurance naming whichever parties the building specifies, and keep one point of contact so the managing agent is never chasing an answer. Our process page sets out how a project runs from the first site visit through to handover.
Licensed, Insured and Accountable
Gurri Remodel is a licensed and insured New York general contractor. Buildings ask for proof of both before work begins, and we supply it as a matter of course rather than as a hurdle at the start of a project.
